Abstract

The main objective of the present study was to identify and design a model of challenges in the interview process for primary school teacher candidates. This study was conducted with a qualitative approach and the Glaser method. The research population included expert teachers in Alborz province, and in selecting the sample, an attempt was made to interview those who had at least a master's degree and 5 years of experience and also had a professional assessment certificate; from which 15 people were selected through purposive sampling. The concepts and components of the challenges in the interview process for primary school teacher candidates (91 concepts, 21 subcategories, and 7 main categories) were identified from the interviews. The results of the analysis of the findings showed that the decrease in the desire to choose the teaching profession, the compactness of management and implementation, the selection of non-native candidates, the recruitment of evaluators in a tasteful manner, the unconsidered use of methods for assessing and evaluating candidates, the lack of attention to personality and behavioral characteristics, and the failure to recruit qualified candidates are significant and important components in identifying the challenges of the interview process for candidates for employment as elementary teachers.
